Campus Club - Welwyn Garden City

Campus Panorama

The location of the first meeting (1965) overlooked the pleasant area of the Welwyn Garden City Campus

What is the Campus Club?

The Club was formed in April 1965 by Fred Carnill, a keen Rotarian, and their first meeting was chaired by Dr. David Goss, also a local Rotarian, with the first Club Lunch taking place in May 1965 with about 38 attendees. The cost then at the Welwyn Department Store restaurant was 7/6d! The Campus Club is open to retired and semi-retired local professional and business men and the current membership is about 80.

Prior to Lunch we meet up with friends, old and new, for a drink at the bar. A good three-course Lunch is served at 12.45, followed by any announcements, then an entertaining talk is given by a visiting speaker. The meeting ends about 3.30pm.

The Club also organises several Outings each year to local places of interest and occasional theatre trips.
